Essay#3 Reflection

Posted by Aditya Sankar Das on

When I was writing the composition of two genres, I noticed that it’s writing structure is different from a traditional essay. When I write a traditional essay, I include an introduction, two or three body paragraphs, and a conclusion. But as I composing the composition in two genres, I targeted an intended audience to communicate with them. For this composition, it is necessary to use a creative strategy and rhetorical choices to create an effective composition.

For my first genre, I choose a political cartoon because it has an extreme significance to influence my audience and help them to change their perspective. A political cartoon is an easier way to communicate with audiences and send a powerful message. For my second genre, I chose a poster because it can help my audience to visualize the situation and grab their attention to make a better improvement. I think it would be efficient to use these genres because it would attract my audience’s emotion. It is also likely that the respective viewers of each genre would want to react in whatever way they can to bring about change.

For my first genre,  I used an element of logos by telling them if we show our skin, it is not a crime, but when we try to rape someone against their will, it is considered a crime. For my second genre, to get my audience’s attention, I used an element of pathos by showing an image of a crying girl who is abused by a man; here the hand represents a male-dominant society that makes my audience feel empathetic.

Audience Strategy

Posted by Aditya Sankar Das on

My intended audiences are government and police officers who are trying their best to combat this crime. Their role is unrivaled to prevent sexual assault. Second, in our lives, our parents or guardians play an enormous role. Our parents or guardians need to encourage their daughters to engage in self-defense activities and to encourage them to succeed in every step they have taken in their lives. Next, Feminists are also part of my audience for the composition of two genres because they are fighting for women’s rights and they can understand other women’s situations. They can ensure women get equal rights as men and support them to report any sexual harassment they experience to the police.

In my composition, I want to influence my audience and help them to change their perspective as they have negative thoughts about the victim. I want my audience to feel, understand, and play their role properly to stop sexual violence. Our police officers need to make sure that the victim must report the incident that she experienced. Sometimes the victim’s family doesn’t want to report the incident for getting thread or fear of getting attacked. So, our government and police officers need to protect the victim’s family and encourage them to file a case. Our parents should support the victim mentally and physically. Our feminists should stand with the victim and need to make sure the victim gets justice.

I believe the political cartoon and poster could make it more accessible and attractive to my audience. I choose a  political cartoon that has an extreme significance to influence my audience and help them to change their perspective. This political cartoon is trying to transforming our mind by adding a “Not” in the last line. In the end, the last line was too significant because we can’t judge anyone’s outfit, and “Showing skin is not a crime but rape is a crime.”  A political cartoon allows my audience to deliver information effectively and it is easy to transfer my message to my audience. For my second genre, I choose a poster that will help my audience to experience what kind of situation a victim has to face. A poster is a great idea to use because it can help my audience to visualize the situation and grab their attention to make a better improvement.

In rhetorical strategies, I will use pathos and logos to engage my audience. For pathos, I will use an emotional picture of a victim who has experienced sexual assault and different texts to show how society blames them. I believe this will evoke the sympathy of my audience. Finally, I will use my political cartoon for logos by adding text that “Showing skin isn’t a crime but rape is”. This text is significant and this logic will help me to convince my audience.

Essay #3 Potential Genre Proposal

Posted by Aditya Sankar Das on

In my previous research essay, my research topic was rape, which is now a serious issue in our world. Most of the developed countries are trying to overcome this problem. For this assignment, I choose a political cartoon for my visual genre. This political cartoon has an extreme significance to influence my audience and help them to change their perspective. I collect this political cartoon from an Indian Newspaper called “The Indian Express.” This political cartoon was clearly indicated the same issue that I already talked about in my research essay. It’s not so surprising a girl who is experienced sexual harassment, the second guess in our society is her outfit. But this political cartoon is trying to transforming our mind by adding a “Not” in the last line. In the end, the last line was too significant because we can’t judge anyone’s outfit, and “Showing skin is not a crime but rape is a crime.”

My main intended audiences are our government officers and police officers who are trying their best to stop this crime. They need to make sure that the victim must report the incident that she experienced. Sometimes the victim’s family doesn’t want to report the incident for getting thread or fear of getting attacked. So, our government and police officers need to protect the victim’s family and encourage them to file a case. Secondly, our parents or guardian plays a huge role in our life. Our parents or guardians need to encourage their daughters to join the self-defense programs and encourage them in every step they made in their life to become successful. Our feminists who are working for women’s rights are also part of my audience. Their role is to make sure women get equal rights as men and support them to report any sexual harassment they experience to the police. Also, they need to make sure the victim gets justice.

Another Genre that I am trying to use will be a poster or I will choose a political cartoon. That will encourage my audience to look at the problem and make certain improvements in our society. A political cartoon allows my audience to deliver information effectively and it is easy to transfer your message to your audience.

Essay #2 Reflection

My research topic was sexual assault. From the beginning, I was struggling with my research question. I came up with a lot of ideas, but still, I was struggling to find out the research question that fits my criteria. Then I came up with a question that feels unclear and it was too broad for the scope of this assignment. Then Professor Shamecca shared an article on how to develop your essay question. Also, she shared some ideas that helped me a lot to come up with a well-developed research question. When I was thinking about how women can protect themselves from sexual assault, I was having trouble finding these pieces of information. Most of the articles share how sexual assault affects women living in society. But I found an article that talks about how self-defense can help women to protect themselves. Then I get some ideas that I can add this information to my research. After analyzing my text, I realized that I provide a lot of quotes in a paragraph. Without explaining those quotes it makes no sense how these quotes related to my research question. Also, I did rush to provide all information at a time. That makes my essay looks so weird. So, I break down into pieces of my information, explain each of my quotes to support my ideas, and then relate it back to my research question. My intended audients are feminists, parents, police, government officers. In my essay, I explained each of my intended audience roles in society and what they do to prevent sexual assault. Furthermore, I tried to influence our parents on how they can motivate their daughters to join the self-defense program. Our government and police officers should motivate the victim to report the incident and they need to protect the victim’s family so that they don’t have to experience any threat. This process of writing helps build-up my critical thinking, improves my writing skills. This process influences me to organize my writing, make a connection with my readers so that they can understand my ideas. This essay helps me on how to break up information into different pieces that help my audience to connect with my ideas easily.

Essay#2 REPORT ON RESEARCH IN PROGRESS

Posted by Aditya Sankar Das on

The last week, we are finalized our research question and start our research with some scholarly sources. Also, I found a scholarly source to model my essay. But this week, I am working with my academic sources and gathering some information as much as I can. Also, I am going through some social media (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube) to find some posts that are related to my topic.

The first source that I found is “Never go out alone” is published in September 2015. One of the authors is Nichole Branda, who is under the University of Maryland. The authors provided their work citations at the end of the article. That helps us to understand the credibility of the source. I found this article in the gale academic one file that is a great source to find some journal articles. This article provides some information about how girls can reduce the risk of rape or their life by using different methods. This article shares some ideas as girls need to alert of their surroundings when they walk or in a vehicle that supports my thoughts. Another source that I found is “Memory of pictures of sexual assault: Sensitive maintenance of ambiguous stimuli” by Jan Hendrick Peters. It is a reliable source because it is just recently published this year, July 29, 2020. This source is peer-reviewed by the journals or experts in this field. The authors provided their work citations at the end of the article.  The purpose of this article is to inform the audience of how a sexual attack can generate fear in women’s minds. I found this source in the gale academic one file. This article supports my ideas because women have to face so many ambiguous situations that contribute significantly to women’s fear of sexual harassment.

I found a source from the gale academic one file that is about what society thoughts about girls. The name of the source is “Bad girls get raped, good girls go to heaven” by Asante Lucy Mtenje. This article is a great source of gender inequality, culture, religion, family, and other genocide. But this article doesn’t fit the criteria of my research. My research had much to do with how to combat rape. But this article doesn’t have that much information that I can be reliable with it.

I found another source that is in the gale academic one file. Most of the sources I found from this website. The name of the article is, “They all laughed at me and if I enjoy having sex with those guys” by  Siyabulela Eric Mgolozeli and Sinegugu Evidence Duma. It is a great source and has a lot of information that fits my criteria. This article also provides some good topics such as self-protection from rape and killed, seeking justice, family support, and encouragement. The reason I am confused is that this article is talking about a boy who gets raped. But I think both men and women can get raped. But the methods the article used about how to protect us from being raped or killed. I believe these methods can be used by both men and women. So, I am a little bit confused if I can use this source.

I start to find some social media posts to add some more information to my research. This week I am working with this but still didn’t find some good sources that fit my criteria. I think social media sources are missing in my research. I am looking for some information about what different NGO’s are doing to stop this crime.

Essay#2 Research Proposal

Question:-Yet how many more incompetent girls have to lead measurable life, just for some cruel beasts of sexual intercourse without her willing?

Publication Name:- Frontiers in psychology

Essay Model:- “Blaming the victim of Acquaintance  Rape: Individual, Situational, and Socio-Cultural factors” by Claire R. Gravelin, Monica Biernat, Caroline E. Bucher.

Finally, I came up with a question about my research topic. I grew up in an area where I used to watch girls who were scared of getting raped to go alone from one place to another. They avoid some areas and modes of transportation, or they avoid wearing modern clothes that are provoking. When a girl gets raped, society always blames her dress, and this is why girls cannot travel the way they want, and they cannot dress the way they want. Society has bound them to certain compulsions. The parents are too concerned about their girls about going outside. They do not want their girls to face an ambiguous situation. Undergoing ambiguous situations seems likely to contribute significantly to women’s fear of sexual harassment, even if those situations are encountered more frequently than indisputable circumstances of danger. “Warr reported that women (under the age of 35) in the USA fear rape more than any other crime” (Hendrik Peter). If this is the case for a guy, whenever they want, they can go anywhere. Even with a short and sporty t-shirt, they could go outdoors. A dress does not matter to society at that point. Here is the point that we all have to worry about. Why do girls need to lead an observable life, just for some barbaric beasts of sexual intercourse? Rape is not a matter of particular concern that impacts a few people but is a social justice issue that affects all. Society and parents thought that girls cannot protect themselves. That is why they discriminate against girls from boys. This is the best time for girls to show their strength, and society needs to see that girls can defend themselves. “The first argues that women’s involvement in sexual assault prevention is empowering and effective, particularly in respect to self-defense training and avoidance of risky situations” (Nicole Bedera). The family needs to encourage their girls to learn boxing and karate to protect themselves. There is no point in having girls locked within four walls for this issue.

For my secondary resource, at first, I researched how girls get raped in a different situation. How do they have to face ambiguous circumstances in schools, colleges, even in hospitals? How society bound them in certain compulsions and have to face discrimination almost everywhere. Then I found a resource that helped me improve my analysis and provide me with a strong understanding to prevent this from happening. In my final research, how girls should defend themselves from rape, pursue justice, help the family, more obligation.

My article will attract an audience of people who are interested in the women’s rights movement. People feel concerns and excuses not to reveal their experiences of rape to the police and lay criminal charges. In my article, I am going to discuss the role of our police officers and support the victims’ families to get justice. Feminists, government officers including police officers, civil officers are also part of my audience.

Essay #2 Research Topic Reflection

Posted by Aditya Sankar Das on

Rape is one of the worst social issues in our world, which is now seen as a constant in the headlines of daily newspapers. I have chosen this topic so that people in our society have concerned about this issue. Now, I have so many questions in my mind about this topic. But I think these two questions are best. Also, I am a little bit confused about which one I should use. So, my first question is Appetite for rape: Whence can parents let their daughters out? And my second question is Yet how many more incompetent girls have to commit suicide, just from some cruel beasts of sexual intercourse without her willing?  Last week, I was watching the news channel of my country where a teenager was raped and killed by a gang. Now all over the nation are protesting for justice. So, my relatives called and discussed this issue with us. They are too scared to let their daughters go outside alone. I was wondering at that moment when girls could easily go outside and lead their lives like a man. That’s how I came up with my first question. Even there are so many incidences where girls commit to suicide because of sexual intercourse. They take their lives because they don’t get justice sometimes. I think this is important to increase more awareness about this issue. We need to make sure that our daughters, sisters are safe not only inside but also outside of our nation. In my research, I will explore more about self-protection from rape, seeking justice, family support, more duty.

Rhetorical Analysis Essay#1 Reflection

I assume writing is a means of connecting with others to share the thoughts and conclusions toward such things. This helps our audience to gain awareness via our work because it is part of another way of expressing our voice. In my opinion, good writing relies on good skills that we can learn through practice. First, before I began writing my essay, I made a plan on how to start and finish it. It’s so important to the audience because the audience loses its interest if the start wasn’t successful. Then I worked on my body part of my essay, and I felt this is the most complicated part for me. On the first attempt, I knew that not everything would be flawless but my friends helped me so much on the peer review. They shared their ideas and helped me to devolve my essay. I had a great issue with grammar and punctuation from my childhood. But I think this essay writing will build up my grammar as well as my punctuation skills because I had to find the best articles that fit my criteria. As a result, I had to read so many articles and that helped me to overcome this situation. Another strategy that I used to write this essay is that before I start to write my essay I read the sample essays and follow their best strategies. Finally, this essay writing taught me a great deal to realize my shortcomings, and also how to strengthen them through practice and hard work. It helped me to progress my writing after the peer-reviewed process and my group guidance, which allowed me to get to know more about my writing quality.

In conclusion,  developing countries like Brazil are trying to enhance the compatibility between justice and government by paying attention to corruption. Although this article provides to the debate on bureaucratic corruption by exploring constraints on peer monitoring and their possible impact on the issuing of official penalties, it concludes by suggesting further research with more robust models and empirical evidence to ensure more credible and consistent anti-corruption monitoring and enforcement. According to what has already been observed in the public service in Latin America expected to find fragile and incomplete institutionalization of the recent reforms to the Brazilian disciplinary system, particularly those made since the Office of the Comptroller General was created in the early 2000s to coordinate anti-corruption efforts in the federal executive

Corruption in rich societies discharged in the past; corruption in poor societies was brushed over. Go back one generation and corruption attracted little global attention. Now, developing country’s presidents and are taking proper steps against corruption, and change in public attention has been generated by new knowledge, investigative journalists, and expert NGOs. A significant consequence of this work is the breaking of restrictions on discussing corruption in poor societies, where it has never before been widely seen as embarrassing and over-focused. In the rich societies, the OECD has orchestrated new anti-corruption legislation, for example, making the bribery of the officials of foreign governments a criminal offense. The World Bank has devoted huge efforts to addressing corruption; as a result, many countries now have Anti-Corruption Units and new laws. International transparency in banking and the true ownership of companies make it harder for the profits of corruption to be hidden.

On a more personal level, how can public service be promoted as an ideal for young people when this sewer corrupts our Republic? At this point in early twenty-first-century America, the greatest service our nation’s young people could provide is to lead an army of outraged. Young Americans armed with brooms on a crusade to sweep out the rascals, rid our capital of the money changers, rent-seekers, power brokers and send them back home to make an honest living, that is, if they still remember how to do so. And it includes favorite pork-barrel projects of every member of both houses of Congress of both political parties, and every one of those most loudly condemning; wasteful government spending. Those projects are produced by the lobbying interests that raise money for those members of Congress in direct proportion to their effectiveness at bringing government-financed projects to their states and districts.

Greece is not alone in trying to corruption,  the world, we are failing. In contrast, corruption is the misuse of private or public power and authority for personal gain. Corruption has disrupted Greece economy, including health, education, which are our basic rights. It led to massive unemployment, cuts in public services, decrease capital left, no foreign investment came in, and as a result, poverty and inequality grew.  To detoxified Greece, we need to rethink inside and outside of Greece. If we think about inside we can’t fight with corruption when salaries are below real living standards, and people are looking to earn money in bad intentions. To fight against corruption, we need to provide more opportunities so that our economy can rise, and we all need together to come up with priorities and solutions. Also, we need solidarity, sustainable reforms, trust in government and business, economic growth, and good governance.

A social issue that interests you

Posted by Aditya Sankar Das on

There are so many issues that relate to the social understanding of people’s intimate lives.  Social issues make human life demanding, and as a result, people strive to solve these problems. Sometimes it represents how one can love with laughter having a lot of strugglings in his life. They deprive of their rights, fight against, and finally establish their virtue.  The one social issue that I feel interested in is “Corruption.” Corruption means the use of state machinery, authority, and power in illegal and unofficial ways for personal profit in the form of duties and misuse of government stocks or resources. It is a common problem that sits considerately and unequivocally in the field of criminality. I feel interested in this topic because it’s been a big issue in my country, where dishonest people came into political power and typically including bribery. As a result, people are suffering in continuous long term health issues, disruption in transportation, poor education system, and so on. Many people lose their business, and economic growth decreases. They forced people to pay illegal money even; for fair work. It causes conflict and violence in society. Many people are not economically capable therefore, they refuse to do their job for not giving them illegal money. It causes an imbalance between lower are higher classes of people. Corruption mostly affects the poorest, although; all elements of society are get affected in one way or another because corruption threatens political improvement, democracy, economic growth, the environment, human health, and much more. The rich get richer and, the poor get poorer. It is one of the major causes of poverty around the world. I want to know about how the developed countries control their dishonesty and what techniques they use? I believe strict orders, rules, and monitoring can prevent this issue. Also, the corrupt officers who get charges of corruption are proven should be rejected by the government. Being a loyal citizen we should capture the corruption video and post it on social media to create awareness among other people.
